How We Authenticate Every Pair
A behind-the-scenes look at how Sneaker Thirst makes sure every pair that reaches you is the real deal.
When you're spending serious money on a pair of Jordans, Yeezys, or a grail you've been hunting for months, "trust me, it's legit" doesn't cut it. The resale market is flooded with fakes, and they get better every year. That's exactly why authentication sits at the heart of everything we do.
Here's how we make sure every pair that leaves us is 100% authentic.
Every pair is checked before it's listed
We don't list first and verify later. Before a pair goes live on the site, it's authenticated — and anything that doesn't pass doesn't get sold. Full stop.
Most pairs are verified in-house by our team, who know these models inside and out. For certain pairs, we also put them through a dedicated third-party authentication service for an extra layer of verification. Two sets of expert eyes, so nothing slips through.
What we actually look at
Authentication isn't one check — it's a stack of them. A fake might nail one detail and miss five others, so we work through multiple points on every pair:
- Stitching, materials and build quality. Genuine pairs are consistent — even stitch spacing, clean panels, no glue spill, and leather, suede and foam that feel the way the real thing should. Replicas tend to slip up here under close inspection.
- Box, labels, SKU and size tags. SKU numbers, fonts, label placement, and the details on the box all have to line up exactly with the genuine release.
- UV and glue inspection. Under blacklight, materials and adhesives on authentic pairs behave in ways fakes struggle to replicate — a check that catches a lot of convincing replicas.
- Comparison against verified reference pairs. We cross-check every pair against confirmed-authentic references for that exact model and colourway, so nothing passes on a technicality.
Inspected before it ships
Authentication isn't the only check. Every order is inspected again before it's packed and shipped, so what you see on the listing is what lands on your doorstep — Perth-based, tracked, and ready to wear.
